A series of plates with so-called “English figures”

Young boys and girls are keeping themselves busy in the small pictures framed by fresh spring branches. Klein could have even painted the 4 design sheets showing the 12 pictures in this charming series at South Kensington School in London. Only the piece depicting a boy holding a vase is missing from the colorful email-patterned porcelain faience plates.

The pieces of the set include
