Ignác Alpár: Herkules Fountain, made in 1885. It was originally built for the Szapáry bathhouse in Băile Herculane. Some of its pieces are set up in Pécs in the garden of Vasvári villa.
A well in Renaissance style, consisting of three levels. Its bottom tray is new. Its central tray was originally supported by a relief column with a colourful glaze depicting aquatic plants and birds. At the top is a plastic ornamented column with the child Hercules.
Curiously, the copy of it situated in the area of the Zsolnay Quarter was also made at the same time. It was erected at the time because, according to the factory’s concept, the originals were always sent to the customers, and later, the broken or damaged originals could be replaced from the duplicate pieces.
