Legend has it that the miraculous icon, which has been kept in Częstochowa since 1382, the monastery of the Pauline Order founded in Hungary was painted by non-other but St. Luke the Evangelist. An artistic reproduction of this icon is this eosin-painted picture, which commemorates the common past of Poland and Hungary. It was exhibited at the Millennium Exhibition in Budapest (1896) as well as in St. Petersburg (1898).
